International School Delft Secondary: Technical Assistant for Design

(part-time position)

Start date 1 August 2026

International School Delft Secondary offers the full IB Middle Years programme and IB Diploma Programme. Join us at ISD Secondary as a TOA in our Design Technology department. If you are passionate about teaching and learning in an IB (International Baccalaureate) school, and believe in inspiring students to become knowledgeable risk-takers, open-minded inquirers, and caring members of society, we are looking forward to meeting you!

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support

  • Assist teachers and students during Design Technology lessons by providing technical advice and hands-on support with tools, technology, equipment, and materials.
  • Support students working on projects in the Maker Space and supervise that work, especially from health and safety perspective.

Lesson Preparation

  • Set up, test, maintain, and store equipment, machinery, and materials required for Design projects and practical activities.

Health and Safety (H&S)

  • Maintain, promote, and enforce strict health and safety protocols in classrooms, workshops, and storage areas.
  • Ensure equipment is safe to use and that students follow safety guidelines at all times.
  • Carry out risk assessments and support safe working practices.

Inventory & Budget

  • Manage, order, and monitor inventory of Design materials, tools, and supplies, keeping records and budgets up to date.

Classroom & Workshop Maintenance

  • Oversee the organisation, cleanliness, and general upkeep of Design classrooms, workshops, and storage spaces.

Requirements

  • A relevant technical qualification or practical experience in Design, technology, or a related technical field.
  • Experience working with workshop tools, machinery, and Design-related materials.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage health and safety compliance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and confidently support students during practical work.
  • Fluency in English

As with all Secondary Education appointments in The Netherlands, this is a 12-month temporary appointment with a view to a permanent contract, if all the conditions are met. All applicants must be EU citizens or have a valid permit to work in The Netherlands, and all applications should be written in English.
